Cusco to the Sacred Valley
This morning we rode up out of Cusco on a partly cloudy morning to the statue of Christ on the hill overlooking this amazing city. At our first stop, Rubin our local guide started what was to be two full days of interesting stories and information on the history of Incas and their exploits. We rode on down into the Sacred Valley on amazing, steep mountain roads with the river winding steadily through the valley. We visited many sites and had a great lunch in the town of Urubamba. From here we rode on up to Ollantaytambo, dropped off the bikes and caught the train up to Aguas Calientes the staging point for Machu Picchu. In the morning we were up at 0430 to catch the bus up to the ruins, we were also lucky enough to take the hike further up to Wayna Picchu. The view from here was absolutely unforgettable, Machu Picchu will stay in my memory forever.
In the afternoon we got the train back to meet the bikes and ride back to Cusco.
