My desire to add to my blog with little to say is going to mean I am going to move from poetry to my other talent - food and wine connoisseur.
Unfortunately, the combination of kids and the fear of california police certainly pulls the reins in on the tastings and further limited my material. Though we managed to enjoy a few tastings and our first Chenin Blanc over lunch. It's crispness complimented a gourmet burger perfectly and equally went with the kids left over Mac and cheese.
Pinot noir's are popular, easy drinking, and plentiful like our Merlots back home
Lara and I have felt that the Sauvignon Blancs are too fruity and have stayed with Chardonnay, hence my purchase of the before stated bottle for her.
Mostly, what I can share is that the tastings in SA are great. Here they range between $15 to $40. The amount is minuscule. And you cannot get food at any of the farms, apparently there is a law about it - who knows the reason. Why do we not do an annual pilgrimage to the cape for a wine purchasing expedition. This is a reminder to self, an invitation to all, and a calendar entry for this time next year to do just that.
Ever since my geography lesson, I have been fascinated with the concept of hot lava heating a body of underground water to the point that it explodes to the surface in a fountain of steam and water. This day i saw a geyser.
We drove from the napa through to the Sonoma valley and picked up another good Chardonnay - Lara's choice and the battle for the best palate to be decided later at our next stop. To get to gualala we drive over the mtn. We had a magnificent view of lake Sonoma but we wound down on a narrow road with two hrs of twists and turns. I think they could cut down a few more redwoods to make the road wider and a little more navigable. As you can see a claustrophobia that the forests bring is moving in, but still the redwoods to do. With that drive we dropped height and 25 degrees Celsius.
