We woke up bright and early to catch a train to Galway. Reserved class tickets with tables AND a snack bar thank you very much. Got into town, checked into our very clean and friendly hostel, walked around the shopping area and used my trusty MTV Ireland guidebook to find Couch Potatos (best restaurant ever where they load up 2 baked potatos with anything you want!). We walked around the town shopping and being tourists then retired back to the hostile to wash up and change before a night out. It apparantly was Australia Day (independence from England) so the town was hopping and there was plenty of 80s Aussie pop playing everywhere.
Another early morning. We got up and caught a 9:30 tour bus to the Burren, Cliffs of Mohr and Alwee Cave. Great pics all around and the girls and I had the best seafood chowder ever! at O'Connor's pub in Doolin. After our long and somewhat damp day we took a group nap at the hostile and then set out to another site in my guidebook, the Hole in the Wall. 2 Euro Tenants is hard to beat so we stayed there all night and after 11 the pub turned into a dance club.
Checked out of our hostile this morning and visited the Huge Catholic church past Shop Street. Caroline, Cate and I bought books for the train ride back and then sat at a cafe for the rest of the day to unwind and have some tea.
