Where I stayed
camping in the DOC sites along the coast

Wow... it's been a while since I last blogged.  We stayed on the farm for a couple more days at Laksar's place mostly harvesting loads of veggies, canning and freezing vegetables and making large vats of plum and blackberry jam and salsa.  It was great,... but we were getting the itch to get back on the road,... so we loaded up our car with fresh veggies, had a heartfelt goodbye, and set out heading north along the beaches.

It feels good to be on the road again... the beaches are so beautiful and it's so cheap to be camping.  The DOC sites are only about 12 dollars for the night and our campsites have been right next to the beach.  You just can't beat falling asleep and waking up to the soothing sound of the waves.  We are enjoying camping too.   We bought a tiny tent that weighs less than 4 lbs. before we left and it has worked perfectly so far.  It is definitely compact... it's technically a two person tent,... but I think it would fit one comfortably.  It's pretty snug in there for two,...  i guess it's a good thing we love each other. :)  We always laugh when we bring it out,... because we are normally setting up next to RV's and super large 3 and 4 room tents.  The people here really know how to vacation.  It's beautiful to see how many locals are out there camping with their families for weeks (sometimes months) at a time.  Our tent looks like a dog house compared to the others, but we like that we
are ultra light and that our life fits into the trunk of our car.  Feels very freeing.

So, we are back at the beach!  Feels like Fiji again (except colder water)... lazy days.  Swimming, reading, playing scrabble, exploring, sand drawings, cooking good food, sunsets, hiking... etc.  Life is good.  We can't complain.  It is so lush and vibrant here... we are just trying to take it all in.
