G'day! Turns out I made it to Oz!  I've been in Sydney since Monday night after a brutally long trip that I will spend the rest of my life making sure no one else attempts.  Traveling east to Autralia without stopping somewhere for a few nights was a mistake.  Frankfurt was a miserable experience in overcrowding and in the final hours of the last stretch I had to ask the flight attendant to let me stand in their area just to take a little moment.  Anyway, it's done, history, and I'm in Australia.  Thanks for the emails.  It was great to hear from many of you in the first 48 hours.
Sydney is spectacular!  I spent Tuesday just walking around and soaking it in.  No big plans or goals...just go with the flow.  I had a Turkish sandwich (they are THE sandwich here) in a park across from the famous opera house and the Sydney bridge just watching the people go by and by and by.
Found a great coffee shop near my hostel which is in an area of Syd known as the Glebe.  Each morning I get up and head out for my little coffee and have a lovely chat with the owners.
The highlights have to be the ferry trip out to Manly Beach.  Beautiful white sands and good surf, cute shops with hemp clothes and books by Dalai Lama.  BUT, the best was last nights yoga class by candlelight.  Great timing for my mood and by the end I was a new person.
Today I saw two museums : Sydney House with a history of the city and the Barracks which detailed the history of imprisonment in Australia.  Happy, happy!
Plans are to head out to the Blue Mountains for two nights and back to Sydney to splurge on a B&B...could be a once a week thing!!
I think about all of you constantly and the party in my head is going strong!  My time is almost out for internet access so pics will have to wait (and editing...apologies!).  Stay safe!
