"Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything."

Yup! I've been in Florida for over 5 weeks. 4 of those in Orlando. It's time to move on. It's starting to feel like I have moss growing on me.
Tomorrow I hit the road. My plans have changed. Still going to Nashville...though I'm just taking the longer route.
Yesterday was errand day. It was time to get the oil changed in the truck. I had seen a quick lube place the last time I was through St. Cloud. There I was chatting with the manager. As usual, the conversation turns to my travels. I tell her I'm heading to Nashville. She tells me her niece lives there. She's trying to break into the country music industry. She doesn't sing or play an instrument. She works behind the scenes. As part of her schooling she was able to get an internship with Kenny Chesney. That over, she's now waitressing. It's difficult to get a job in the music industry. She tells her aunt about all the high profile singers who come into the restaurant. Some of the performers are accosted by so many fans during their meal that they end up leaving mid-way through it. What a life!
Continuing my conversation with the manager at the oil change place she tells me that Florida's north western coastline is so beautiful. A must see.
That done, I head to an outlet mall to do some shopping. The Velcro on my sandals isn't working so well anymore. Guess they're getting used more than at home...no snow. The day we had gone to Universal Studios we had passed an Outlet Mall not far from Disney. I head there. The last time I went to Disney I had passed by here thinking I would stop and do my shopping at that time. But as I was passing by, the cars were lined up to get into the parking lot, so I passed that time. This was during the Christmas Break rush. Yesterday there were still a lot of people shopping. I find a pair of sandals and some hiking shoes.
I decide that since I'm so close that I'll head to Downtown Disney one last time. Who knows when I'll be back. If ever. I get there and pass the movie theatre. The movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets is playing. This is a sequel to the National Treasure movie that we have the DVD of and that I really enjoy watching. The movie starts in 10 minutes and it's too early to have supper. The movie is really funny and informative. Movie finished, I wander around Downtown Disney for a while then head to the House of Blues for supper.
I get back to the trailer and start mapping out my journey. My original plans were to head diagonally to Nashville following Interstate 75 through Atlanta. I was planning on stopping as soon as I passed into Georgia and spend a week at a campground there before moving on. I have 3 weeks to get to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. My new plans are to follow the north western coast of Florida towards Pensacola then head straight up to Nashville. This route is a few hundred extra miles longer.
Pensacola to New Orleans is less than 4 hours apart. My detour to Nashville and Memphis will add an extra 1000 miles to the Journey and 2 weeks of travelling. I've seen that pattern somewhere before! I started the U.S. part of my Journey doing the same thing...Kingston to Delaware Water Gap with a detour to Bar Harbour Maine.
Always the Journey...not the Destination!
