Therapist... "You know yourself...It's the recipes you create yourself that are the best!"
From the movie "No Reservations!"
Yesterday I felt like watching a movie. I had seen a movie theatre nearby when I had gone for lunch...and ended up driving a lot further for the restaurant than I should have. I had seen an IHOP Restaurant at some point before arriving at the campground on Monday. There was also reference, and a map, in the campground information package showing one nearby. So, off I go to find the IHOP...without the map. Nowhere to be found. Now, exactly where had I seen it? Using my trusty GPS, I locate one about 10 minutes away. Down the Interstate for a while, then turn off and end up....where do you think? On the same street as the campground, but about a mile in the opposite direction from where I had originally gone. So...2 minutes away. This wasn't the one I had seen. Doesn't our memory often do that? It teases us into thinking we know all the information we require!
Back to the movie. The internet is great. I Google movie theatres that are nearby. Determine that there are no movies playing that I want to see. But I really want to see a movie. Google Department Stores. There should be a Wal-Mart or something similar nearby. Find a Target. Off to buy a movie...or two. Find "Pursuit of Happiness" with Will Smith, a movie I had seen previews of, but not the movie, and "Music and Lyrics", with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, a Romantic Comedy that I knew nothing about, but had potential with these two actors.
Get back to the camper. Do some research on the hours the Museums I want to see are open in Washington, exactly what is available to see, and also transit information to get to downtown Washington. Then do some reading.
"...This is not the only way I speak to you. Listen to Me in the truth of your soul. Listen to me in the feelings of your heart. Listen to me in the quiet of your mind. Hear Me, everywhere. Whenever you have a question, simply know that I have answered it already. Then open your eyes to your world. My response could be in an article already published. In the sermon already written and about to be delivered. In the movie now being made. In the song just yesterday composed. In the words about to be said by a loved one. In the heart of a friend about to be made..."
God, Conversations with God - Neale Donald Walsch
I watched the movie "Music and Lyrics". A story about an 80's Pop star living in the past who needs his quirky plant lady to help him write lyrics to a song for the current tween-queen and regain his former glory. Together they go after song writing success, and discover, that if you want to write the perfect love song, it helps to fall in love. Laughter, they say, is the best medicine. For me, it definitely is. I also look for messages in the movies I watch. Whether it's a song writer, script writer, columnist, or book author, they all seem to have the knack for writing stuff to make it sound like it was tailor made for just you. Are we all so similar in what we are looking for in life that you can mass produce a product that will touch so many individuals this way? Also, what leads us to "discover" just the right "product" at the time that it will help us the most?
Last night I required a movie to make me laugh, but also one to remind me that love can be just around the corner. Love, that is, with a life partner. I have a lot of love from family and friends. Life on the road can be lonely. But this is the path I have chosen, or maybe is required by karma. We never know what is waiting for us along any path we take.
"We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness'."
From the movie "Shall we Dance!"
I had plans to go into Washington today and see the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum. I was all ready to go last night with the research done for getting there. But I woke up and was still very tired. My legs hurt. A symptom from the fibromyalgia. I didn't think I would be able to do much walking today. So I stayed in bed until 10. Then chatted on MSN with Katrine for a while as she got ready for University. Then I watched the movie again. Messages sometimes get missed the first time around. I will re-watch movies over and over again. I always notice something different on each viewing. I do the same with books. I will re-read them and find new meanings each time. Why is that? It's the same words printed on the page. Do we interpret them differently? Do we look for the meaning that will help us out depending on what we require at this moment?
This afternoon I went to Starbucks to read...and get a latte. I finished reading "Conversations with God" a few days ago and had put the book away. I had thought of posting the quote that's above a few times, but hadn't for whatever reason. Today I knew it was the right time to do it. Another why? Another chicken and the egg question. What came first? The feeling that I "had to" find a way to insert that quote in my blog? So I ended up watching a movie. Or, because I watched the movie I remembered that I had this quote that would suit the situation? Things that make you go....hmmmm!
The book I am currently reading is "The Secret of "The Secret"". When I told you a while back that I had bought the book, I had just skimmed through it and falsely assumed that this author was trying to say that "The Secret" DVD and book were a bunch of malarkey. This book has been very well researched as to the history of the "Law of Attraction". I'm not finished yet, so I won't jump to any conclusions. But I will let you all in on its secret when I'm done.
