Up early....a very long day ahead of us with 850 kms to drive...on the road by 7 am. To shorten the trip we're driving cross country and bypassing the Interstate that drops south for a while and goes too far west before heading north towards Lethbridge. There's not much to see but wheat fields. The undulating landscape of yellow is quite beautiful....but it goes on for miles and miles. A transport truck passes in the opposing direction with a wide load sign but not much on it but something shiny and flat. My curiosity as to what it was is answered a short time later when a fighter jet (sans wings) passes by. We pass by a cluster of windmills, the electricity generating kind...not the kind you would normally find in Holland. Small farming communities dot the landscape...some of them quite abandoned.  We stop at the duty free shop for the mandatory bottle of Kahlua and head to the Canadian border crossing. A few simple questions...then the one that could cause a delay...Alexis is watching a movie in the back seat but the Custom Agent doesn't see this and sees an empty passenger seat...he's wondering why she's in the back...must be figuring I'm smuggling someone in the trailer...crisis averted and we're back in Canada after 3 weeks. Home at 6...exhausted from 11 hours of driving. The conclusion of an awesome holiday!

Hope you've all enjoyed following along during our adventure!
