Visit Chicago. Take commuter train 2 blocks from campground right into downtown Chicago. Rain starts coming down in buckets. No umbrellas. Walk a bit and then rain stops. Clears up. Where are we going? Sears Tower. It's almost 9 am, but the booklet says it opens at 10. But where is the Sears Tower and how do we get back to the commuter train?????? Should have brought the GPS. Walk 2 blocks and lo & behold, the entrance to the Sears Skydeck. Aren't we lucky. And it actually opens at 9. 2nd in line. On the elevator and at the top of the world by 9h30. (more pictures) Back on the ground and get tickets for the tour bus. First stop...the waterfront. Fountain. Boy is it hot and muggy! Oops. Almost forgot. Backtrack to Macy's. Alexis saw Macy's when we were on the bus. Walk back a few blocks. Time for some SHOPPING! Sorry. Buying is for later in New York. WINDOW SHOPPING only. Time to see Chicago by sea. Get back on the tour bus. The Pier. Buy tickets for boat tour. Have to wait a couple hours. Man it's hot! Got any eggs to fry? Finally time to get on the ship and it clouds over...and they want us to work on the ship. I thought this was a holiday. I guess sailing ships are different. Time to get back. Grab the last tour bus back to the Sears Tower then walk to the train station. If we run we can get the 5h50 instead of waiting for the 6h15. The train is there but the destination doesn't look right. Oh right... that one goes to the neighborhoods we were warned against getting off at. Even the locals don't get off there. Let's wait for the 6h15. Back at the campground. Rain starts to fall...harder and harder. Plus lightning and thunder. Look outside. Truck pulls up at the camper next to us. 2 boys and a father have their shirts off as they run to the camper. Rain's coming down in buckets. They look like some country bumpkins out of the movie Deliverance.
