And we're off down Highway#2. Oh-Oh. DETOUR. Gravel road....dirt road......no road.....
. OK. Not quite that bad, but I was getting worried as the road kept on getting narrower. I'm not driving a mini. Time to stop for the first (of many) landscape shots (hint to see picture). Back on the Highway. Thought the highways in Saskatchewan were bad. It's Stampede time in Calgary, but if I was planning on riding a Bronc I would have stayed there. Get to Winnipeg, a little later than planned. Now it's rush hour and a truck's broken down in a major intersection. Oh well....Mom will understand. Un-hitch the trailer. Wow, after that drive down Highway #2 only 1 broken mug and a plastic glass (now, how does plastic break?). Luckily my Moose Coffee Mug did not break. Survived the 5 foot fall from the top shelf.
Next stop, Winnipeg. But with a slight detour. For those of you fortunate enough to have driven to Winnipeg from the west, you might have noticed a sign on Highway #1, west of Brandon stating "Swinging Bridge" in the town of Souris, MB. I've seen this sign dozens of times over the years. Never once stopping. We were actually running early for a dinner date at my Mom & Dads in Winnipeg. Turn right....OH NO...25 kms to Souris. That's further off the highway than I thought. Oh well. Can't turn this rig around on a dime. Off we go. Can always take Highway #2 into Winnipeg. Lunch in Souris. Visit a barn filled with thousands of farm tools and implements from the past 100 years or so. Looks like the stuff from my grand-father's tool shed back on the farm. Walk...or as Alexis did...hopped across the swinging bridge.
