Where I stayed
The hotel has a few sheets of papers with tours listed lying around. They have a 2 day tour that has the boat trip into Cambodia that I want and also a 3 day tour that has a couple stops in Vietnam. I decide to spend more time in Vietnam and play catch up in Thailand. I still have a date with a beach resort on the 18th of February south of Singapore.
That booked, I now know that I'm leaving Saigon on the 30th. I grab my camera and go wander around town. I follow the river for a while. Then head for a few tourist sights. Wander some more then start making my way back to the hotel. I've used my "Backtrack" GPS tracker to mark my hotel. For some reason I seem to be going around in circles and can't get closer to my hotel. Then I remember that on my map it had shown where the Central Post Office was. I had decided in Laos to get rid of some excess baggage. I head back to where the Post Office is. I run across a UPS store. Stop in there to see how much it'll cost to send something to Canada. Then I stop in at the Post Office.
I head back to my hotel using a map plus the Backtrack. The Backtrack says I'm within 500 metres but the map says I'm way off track. At some intersection I've turned right instead of left. I just don't know about Vietnam, I always seem to be going off in the wrong direction.
Finally make it back to my room. I'm quite tired from the heat. It's over 30 degrees celsius. Over 40 with the humidity. I sit outside my hotel where a little restaurant kiosk has tables set up. I write up my last few entries and have wifi access from my room. I get an email from Beatrix. She says she found a nice hotel room for $18 not too far away. I tell her I'm sitting outside my hotel room and that she can come join me for a beer or two. She agrees to come.
She starts telling me about herself. How on the plane she had asked her brother (who had passed away a couple of years ago in a car accident) to help guide the pilot. Then she tells me that last night she had chatted with the two Russian guys till after 2am. She was originally planning on riding the Trans-Siberian railway through Russia because something from that country is drawing her there. But with the cold this time of year she changed her plans. She's quite intrigued with Yury, one of the Russian guys who's currently working in Egypt. She says it's quite uncanny how Yury is very similar to her deceased brother in his likes and past life.
It's getting late and Beatrix wants to go to bed. I walk her back to her hotel. As we arrive, so do Yury and his friend. They ask us if we want to join them for a beer. Beatrix acquiesces. We head to the bar till almost 1am chatting.
Beatrix and I have a definite connection. I tell her that she's very much one part of my Dream Girl. She understands. Actually, she understands me quite well. I've also observed a few things that Beatrix has said about Russians and the final comment that Yury made when they left that he wanted to meet up with Beatrix tomorrow night. I discuss this with Beatrix later. She totally missed out on those clues. Only time will tell if there's some relationship potential there. I'm sure she will tell me as we stay in contact.
As we say our goodnights we agree that tomorrow will be a nothing day for both of us. Beatrix is meeting up with her father on Monday here before they fly to India next week together.
The street we had found the bar on is full of tourists and local Vietnamese girls chatting away and flirting the night away. I cannot tell a lie. Yes, I was definitely looking to hook up with a cute Vietnamese woman tonight. I guess the Universe has other plans for me. The women I saw hanging out at the bars after walking Beatrix to her hotel definitely had the bad-girl looks. Hot and sexy. But not the Dream Girl part that I asked for.
Earlier I had told Beatrix about my blog entry where I stated that maybe all I'm going to get in life is the various individual parts of my Dream Girl. That my "order" is a little too difficult to fill.
Which reminds me of what Beatrix had told me yesterday as we were waiting at the airport. She uses the Universe like a restaurant menu. She orders and then forgets about it. Whether she ordering without any menu changes or making a special request will determine the amount of time that she has to wait. Make it easy and the Universe will quickly provide. Be very specific and complicated in the request and you might have to wait a little longer.
I'm still waiting. But definitely enjoying receiving each part of my Dream Girl. I am quite sure the Universe can come through with my request one day.
