Actually, there really isn't that much to tell.
Sunday morning I moved the trailer to a serviced site. But, before I did that I had to thaw my butt. It was freezing cold overnight without any heat in the trailer. An electric blanket is useless when you don't have electricity. With the little battery power that I did have I ran the furnace to take the chill out of the trailer first thing in the morning.
After that I took a drive out to Cape Spear. There I visited the lighthouse and the furthest eastern point in North America
From there I drove to Fort Amherst, then Signal Hill, and then parked the truck in the historic section of St. John's and walked around till about 6 PM taking many, many pictures during this picture perfect day.
The truck is parked less then a block from Michael's place. Since he had asked me to call him, I did. They had just returned from their hike. He invites me over for supper but they want to rest and shower first. Come over at 7h30. I go back to the trailer, change and head back. They're only a 5 minute drive away.
We have supper and chat till late. Michael offers me a Toscano (an Italian cigar) (I had declined after supper when we were in Gros Morne as I didn't feel like it at that time) and well aged rum. I accept. Not that I'll make it a habit, but you have to try everything at least once in life.
They invite me to go hiking with them on Monday (today) as they are planning on doing the East Coast Trail. I have plans to see more of the Avalon coast. Everybody I met today were telling me the "must see" places.
I decide that hiking with my new friends is the better option. I am constantly seeing new places. Seeing these places in Newfoundland might be new experiences but cultivating people relationships is just as important.
And so, that was what I did today.
A beautiful, sunny, extremely windy day hiking the east coast trail with Michael, Elena and Micha and then supper in a small town hole in the wall eatery.
They wanted me to join them for another movie tonight but I declined. I have spent very little time in the trailer the past few days. I had things to do before moving on. Michael's parents live in Calgary and they will be visiting in October. I promised that we would get together then.
Enjoy the pictures I took yesterday. There were so many to chose from.
PS. Just an observation about how I always get what I need. I wrote in yesterday's entry how my first choice of campgrounds was a half hour west of St. John's as that was a place that was more central to touring the Avalon Peninsula. But then I didn't tour the Avalon Peninsula, I spent my time with Michael and Elena in St. John's. Funny how that happened...or Not!
Would my choices have been different if I was at the originally chosen campground? Or, did I get what I needed at this stop?
