I lie in bed this morning thinking about what I should do today. The weather doesn't look that great.

side note: Isn't it funny how I seem to lie in bed most mornings thinking about what I should do that day? Wouldn't the world be a better place if we could all do that? Some of you would argue that nothing would get done if that was possible. Maybe not! Think about that a while as to why that would be so.

Then I get up. (How about that? I also seem to get up every morning. Though, on occasion it's been known to be afternoon when I get up)

I have to move the trailer to a different, unserviced, site. The weather is crappy. Might as well get to St. John's. I'm off, without seeing Bonavista (where Cabot landed in 1497) and without seeing another lighthouse.

The Pippy Park campground is inside St. John's next to Memorial University. The city is close, but the remainder of the Avalon Peninsula that I want to tour is much further away. My original campground chosen was in Holyrood, more centrally located, about a half hour west.

I set the trailer up in the overflow area. Basically a gravel parking lot. No electricity, no water, no sewer, no computer, no microwave, no HEAT! It's cold out. Weather forecast of near freezing temperatures tonight.

Can't do much in the trailer, might as well go for a drive. Drive the final 5 kilometres of the Trans Canada Highway. YES! I've tranversed Canada on its national highway. One more item off my to-do list. Not that it was ever on the list, but now that its done might as well say that it was.

Last May I was in Victoria BC, one end of the highway. I didn't start the drive at the waterfront where the road offically starts. I had walked the first few kilometres from there to downtown Victoria where I was staying.

I then drive to downtown St. John's, walk around a bit, then try and figure out what to do. Might as well see a movie, or go to bed (nothing else to do in the trailer with no electricity nor heat).

I drive to the Avalon Mall where the movie theatre is. Before going in I call Michael (the Professor I met on the ferry and in Gros Morne). He wanted me to call when I got into town. He and Elena are going to Micha's house to watch a movie. Why don't I join them.

Now that's a plan!

They pick me up at the campground and we drive to Micha's house. Micha is also a professor at Memorial. He's originally from Russia. Elena is Italian. Michael is Polish...and I'm French-Canadian. Quite an international gathering. We watch the movie, Charlie Wilson's War.

MIchael invites me to go hiking with the three of them tomorrow. I decline. I'm here to do some touring. Michael says I should call them around suppertime and maybe we could meet up tomorrow night. I tell him I will.

PS. As to why the world would be a better place if we could all decide each morning what we wanted to do that day...the reason is that we would all be doing what we love doing. We all have such diverse interests that everything that would NEED to be done in the world would get done. Now THAT would be Heaven on Earth!
