This morning I wake up and it's raining. I head down to the breakfast room and the TV is showing the view from the top of the various mountains where there are restaurants and touristy stuff. There isn't a view at this time. The snow is coming down hard and heavy. As I look outside I can see some snow part way up the mountains when the fog and cloud cover lightens up. My day will be spent hanging out at the hostel. They are now predicting some sun and clouds in a couple of days. The views will be amazing with the snow covered mountains and some sun.
Yesterday as I checked in I met Francesca. She's the front desk clerk. She was extremely nice and is very beautiful. Today I spent a lot of time in the breakfast room which has the best light for reading and tables for typing, which also happens to be the check-in room. Francesca was working again. Yesterday I had started talking to her about what I do and my travels. She's lived here most of her life though she has spent 6 months in Canada in Ontario. We chatted some more today. There's something about her that reminds me of the past. The past from a long, long time ago. She reminds of my first love and my first kiss.
When I was 13 we lived in a small town in Manitoba called St-Pierre-Joly. My best friend was Tony and he lived on a dairy farm. I spent a lot of time there when I wasn't working in my Mom & Dad's grocery store. He came from a large family, mostly sisters. I had a crush on his older sister, Angela. But she wasn't my first love. That would be his younger sister, Francina. Yes! It was "Puppy Love". It was short lived. We would sneak away to the hayloft holding hands. At some point in time we kissed. Just a peck really. We were so young.
Now why would I think about someone from 30 years ago at this time?  I haven't before. I've met other people with similar names to Francesca before. Francesca is probably Nick's age, 18 or 19. She's a reminder to me for some reason. Now, what is that purpose? Why do I need a reminder of my first love at this time?
Since I've written my "Right Back Where I started From! " entry I've been thinking about the book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coehlo. That book is a fable about searching for our "personal legend". In the end, the young Spanish shepherd boy has determined that what he was searching for is where he was when he started his Journey. His journey had started one night as he was sleeping in the ruins of a church with his flock and had the same dream he had had numerous times before. The next day he met a "King", I believe, from the East who talked to the shepherd boy about a treasure. Now read the book for the whole story. I read the whole book in an evening as have, I believe, most people that I've talked to.
I hang out for a while and then go for a walk around town in the rain. I do more window shopping, even though the stores are open. I have very little money. I find the perfect Cuckoo Clock. It's $2,000. Guess I won't be buying that this trip. I do buy ear plugs. With 6 people in the room things are a little stuffy so I left the window open through the night. The street noise kept me awake most of last night. I figured I'm here for 4 more nights. Might as well try and get some sleep before going home. Guess I should have bought these at the beginning of the expedition. I also find a Swiss Military sweatshirt that I like but don't buy it. I only have 1 long sleeve shirt and I'm not sure about wearing it for a whole week considering the weather is quite cool for t-shirts. Though, the wool coat I bought in Luxembourg is awesome.
I have finally figured out how to get my message out. I hadn't been able to figure out a way to get the information I've been writing about in these disjointed blog entries in an easily understandable format. My "How-To make the Law Of Attraction work for you" manual is going to be an International Best Seller.
Back to the hostel for a while, then the weather clear up a little. I decide to go for a hike at a park in the south of town. That done, I go rest at the hostel for a bit then walk around town in the evening. I buy the Swiss Military yellow. I have spent the last of my money. Still walking around Man Street I get depressed (a little). I see all these couples walking around, hand-in-hand, and I see couples in restaurants laughing away and having a good time. Yes! I am lonely. Loneliness SUCKS!
I get back to the hostel and go to bed. I want to get up early and take a hike. During my wanderings in town I found a path they call a Nordic Walking Trail. The part that I saw was paved and they say it's 3.5 kms long. My runners are not made for hiking. I slip on wet pavement. An easy hike is all that I could do with the "tools" that I have.
Four days to go! Still wondering what else this stop is all about.
Think It! Feel It! Live It!
