Where to start. The beginning is always a good place. We can always start at the end and work our way back. Things get confused when we start in the middle. But then, isn't the Present in the middle? So, I guess, we should never start with the Present as the Present is too confusing. But then, haven't I been telling everyone that we should just live in the Present? So then, we should live in the Present but not talk about the Present? Right? I'm confused. Must be because I'm writing in the Present.
So let's just start at yesterday morning. I left the B&B for a short drive to Edinburgh (Ed-in-bor-row). I once spelt that Edinborough and was told I was wrong. That IS the way it sounds. Why is language so confusing? It's like Loch Katrine is spoken Cath-her-in by the locals, and not Ka-trin as in latrine (la-trin).
Any ways, enough about language.
I arrived at the hostel in Edinburgh at 11 am. The email booking confirmation said they were expecting me to arrive at 11 am. I get there and they say that check-in isn't until 2 PM. So why were they expecting me at 11? What a strange world "I" live in. By the way, the short ride was amazing. More awesome roads. Weather was perfect.
To make a short story long, they checked and were able to put me in a different bed in a different room then the one they had reserved for me. That worked out great as then I was in the same room as Lara from Madrid. She's a grad student starting her 3 year stint here in Edinburgh and was here with her friend from(...I forget) looking for accommodations. We chat a while. I give them a Canadian flag pin and sticker that I give to a lot of people. Have I mentioned that  I do that before?
After posting all my missing blog entries I headed into town for a walk. The city is awesome and the route I took was perfect for taking some amazing photographs. The sun was at just the right angle and the sky was perfectly blue with just the right amount of clouds floating around. And I didn't have my camera. It figures. After walking around for a couple of hours, and with no perfect pictures, I headed back to the hostel.
The weather forecast for today was 20% chance of rain. Well...they were right. We had that 20% chance of rain happen. So now I walked around town taking pictures in the rain. After 5 hours of walking I went back to the hostel. My feet were killing me.
I chatted with Nick on MSN for a while. Then planned, more or less, the rest of my trip back to Frankfurt and figured out which ferries I'll be taking to get back to Britain from Ireland and then from Britain to France. I wasn't sure when I would have internet access again and so wanted to confirm ferry times and distances from the various locations I would be staying in.
Then I was in bed early and relaxed while listening to my iPod. Almost forgot. I did go back into town at supper time (the hostel was on the outskirts of the "old town" but still within the city of Edinburgh) to try and find a Scotland flag sticker. I've been purchasing them for all the countries I've been in (though I forgot in Sweden and in Belgium). I never did find one as most stores had closed by now. But I did wander through  a couple of used book stores. I finished reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and decided to read Robert Pirsig's second book, Lila which is a continuation, of sort, of the first book. Or so I have been lead to believe by a wikepedia article I read. So I decided to check the used bookstores for a copy.
As I was listening to the music, our other bedmate, another grad student looking for a place to stay, this one from Galway (one of my planned stops) in Ireland returned. He and Lara started chatting about the problems finding accommodations. As they are both older, they want to make sure they don't have accommodations with "new" University students who party too much. Then it was off to sleep.
Another day done in the awesome life of ME!
