With my job I get to travel around the East of England a little bit, though I often don't get to do any sightseeing.
Recently though I had reason to stay overnight in Norwich, where I stayed with one of my colleagues, the lovely Lucy.
Lucy is such a sweetheart, she's a brunette Bridget Jones to me. She was wonderfully hospitable, and even took me for breakfast at her local haunt before starting work for the day.
She lives in the 'golden triangle' of Norwich, the funky cosmopolitan part of town, and the bar she took me to for breakfast certainly reflected that.
I'm sure Norwich is bigger than Cambridge, and it has a very different vibe to London or Cambridge, the two English cities I'm most familiar with. The closest city I can pin it to from my experiences is Dublin. Perhaps like Dublin this often mocked city will have a coming of age and become an uber backpacker destination in a few years. I certainly think it's worth a visit.
