Just before Ian left for the UK we headed over to Falls Creek to get some snow action in. It was the first time I've hit the slopes since Canada... and man, it was disappointing.
Probably comparing alpine Australia with Western Canada is unfair at the best of time, but this was one of the worst Australian snow seasons ever. We went in peak season but most of the resorts were looking at closing in about a week before there's just been no snow! It's not cold enough - and the drought certainly doesn't help.
There's a campaign going in Australia's alpine region called 'keep winter cool', about fighting global warming. Perhaps it was just one bad season, but if the unseasonably warm winters continue the Australian snow resorts are going to struggle!
Even though the snow was absolutely crap, we still had a great time because we went with Kai and a bunch of his mates who are so much fun. I've attached some of the photos which is a mild demonstration of the antics we got up to.
