We set off down to the ferry at about 1015. The ferry was on the other side of the river at Helford Passage so we had to open a wooden board to call it over and it arrived about ten minutes later.
Once across the water it was a gentle walk around the estuary, passed the National Trust gardens at Durgan and some interesting little coves on the way to Rosemullion Head. There was quite a lot of shipping in Falmouth Bay.
We got to Maenporth around 1230 and stopped in The Cove for a drink before heading round Pennance point, Swanpool Beach and into Falmouth
St Michaels was on the western side of town just above Gyllyngvase Beach. The room was enormous with doors out onto a deck with a sea view so we sat in the sun and enjoyed some champagne.
We got dressed up and went down to the hotel restaurant, the Flying Fish, for dinner. Kate had bought a new outfit and looked very pretty. She wore the silver ear rings and necklace that I had bought her. I had goats cheese tart and steak with langoustines and Kate had a salad and bacon starter and steak. Very good. We sat out on the deck and finished a bottle of wine watching the lights across the bay.
