Port Douglas is a really nice little town. We went up north to Cape Tribulation one of the days we were there. Mossman gorge is on the way. The walk there is probably always busy but is well worth doing. It's comforting not having to watch where you put your feet after seeing alot of snakes lately. Further north on the way to Cape Tribulation there are beaches and lookouts etc.. There are 3 boardwalks through rainforest, mangroves or whatever each about a half hour long. So, again we made no complaints about being up off the forest floor for a change.
Tallarook is an old style sailboat that's been re-vamped. Rather than taking the more popular option of the new faster catamarang boats we decided to give this one a shot. It worked out really well.
Cool boat with big mast and boom stickin out up the front with the net and stuff. Takes 25 passengers but it was just the two of us and two gay correctional officers (prison wardens) and the 4 crew on board. The two gay boys were good craic, you wouldn't want to be caught in a small cell with them though. Left at 9 back at 5, full day sailing to the reef. Did two dives, and lunch too. Saw a giant clam about 3 foot long. Great day out.
