Stayed in Rainbow Beach and did a two day tour of the island. Fraser Island is the biggest sand island in the world. It's a massive aquifer, rainwater constantly filtering down through the sand and streaming out 60-100 years later. It makes for a fairly unique environment. It's got the largest population of sharks in the world waiting to eat you on one side. It's got massive moving sand dunes (1 or 2 meters per year; great fun to run down) , king ferns....

Got in a monster truck and drove down 75 mile beach to the pinnacles, Indian head, and the maheno shipwreck. Lake McKenzie was class on the second day. Crystal clear water, beautiful to swim and it's pH matches that of human skin which means something to the metrosexuals. The dingos were running off with peoples shoes while they were in swimming. The rain forest walk was good too. The crowd we were with were a sound bunch. We all stayed the night in a resort where we had dinner, pints and a few games of pool.
