It was pissin rain leaving Harrington. Our first detour off the highway was into Middle Brother State Forest near Kew. We spent ages drivin on dirt roads getting lost lookin for two huge trees called Bird Tree and Big Fella Gum. One tree is the tallest and the other is the biggest (by volume) in New South Wales.

On one road, deep into the forest, we saw what looked like a farm with "Norfolk Punch" on the sign. The woman inside was a bit of a nutter. She had an insanely happy smile on her face, as if she was part of a religious cult or something. They make and sell fruit punch and organic products there. After using the toilet, sampling two or three different types of fruit punch, some type of honey and buying a jar of mixed berry jam, we left none the wiser.

There was no chance of finding the tree called Big Fella Gum. After getting lost again, it was turning into a bit of a farce. Originally we were saying "ah ya, we'll go have a look", not too pushed. So after spending ages driving in the woods in the rain to see trees, we eventually came across one of them, Bird Tree.

When we arrived in South West Rocks it was late in the evening. We went up to Trial Bay Gaol on the top of a hill nearby the town. The prison is now a tourist attraction but it was closed. There's a loop walk you can do which takes you into Hat Head National Park. The clocks change, back one hour, here in April. So instead of getting dark at 7p.m. we found out the hard way that it gets dark at 6p.m.. What's the name of the club for geniuses, MENSA?

We'd great plans to do walking the next day around smoky cape in the national park. The rain from the day before had caught up with us, so we abandoned those plans fairly lively after gettin soaked 10 mins from the car. Back to relaxing in our nice comfy accommodation in front of the telly for the day.
