El Calafate is different to say the least. As you come into town the road is an old runway with the control tower extended and converted into a hotel. Alot of dirt tracks for roads and beat up old pick ups driving around.
Went on a boat Tour to see a number of glaciers. There were ice bergs all over the place after breaking off the front of the glacier. Weather was brutal and loads of camera happy tourists you just want to throw overboard but well worth a trip. We were pleasantly surprised by the boat itself considering the weather. Warm and comfy.
The "big ice" trek on the Perito Moreno Glacier was definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far. Didnīt expect to see so much on the glacier. The pools, streams, cracks and caves in the glacier were unreal, especially the colour. Just see the photos.
Patagonian is well worth a visit. It must be the only place on the planet with weather more changeable than Ireland.
