Spent 9 nights in Rio.
Got to Maracana (capacity 110,000) to see Flamengo beat Atlethico 1 - 0. Really good atmosphere, although I think Croke Park (83,000) in Dublin is a more impressive as a stadium. The brazilian guy that took us there was sound, Tony. He said he doesn´t wear any jewellery or bring out anything that can be robbed "because this is Rio maaaan, not New York city". I´m glad to hear you say that because we´re off to there later on, but if I had a Rolex, I don´t think I´d be flashin it around there either.
Also went to tropical islands, and did lots of touristy stuff like corcovado and sugar loaf.
Went diving 2 hours outside Rio with Dive Point, pricy but good fun. Did 2 dives at two different islands and saw loads of stuff like trumpett fish, a turtle, electric ray.....really good. Crossed a 12km bridge to get there and drove by a 40km beach.
Spent alot of time on or walking around Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.
The buffet breakfast in Atlantis Copacabana hotel was brilliant.
