Vienna Woods and a Mozart Concert
Entry 7 of 18 | show all | print this entry |
I seem to be having trouble uploading photos again ...help!! Min!!! Oh well words will have to do for now! It is nice and hot here in Vienna...and so far I have done a tour into the Vienna Woods (visited a very interesting monastery from which comes the monks that do the Gregarian chants - I bought one of their local productions). It was so interesting and at one point I was taking a photo of a long hallway of Gothic archways and someone breezed past me silently and I looked beyong my camera viewer and saw a monk briskly walking down the hallway. Of course I immediately snapped a couple of shots - no one else in the group was able to get the shot as I was the only one taking a photo at the time...I love it!! I'll try to upload it to the travel blog. I met a group of Australians who are here accompanying their children who are in a wind ensemble that is competing at a music festival here. They were very nice (the one that I shared a seat on the bus with was Petra - a psychiatrist from New Castle (her youngest son was in the ensemble). Besides the Vienna Woods we also did a tour of an underground river (it was actually an old mine that had been flooded in 1912 with 2 million tons of water - they opened it for tourists in 1932 and have done boat rides on it ever since - it would have been better if it were a natural river - although it was very neat to see where the old rail tracks were etc. They also used it for part of the movie The Three Muskateers. Tonight I have signed up for dinner and a concert of Mozart and Strauss... I am looking forward to that! I have been carrying around a change of closthes all day so that I will look fresh and debonair at the concert!
On tuesday I fly off the Athens for a night and then to Santorini for 6 days...that is most likely where my next posting will come from... Adelweiss!!

Hello dearest Cath,
Well? Is it your new little black dress that you've been carrying around all day to wear to dinner and the concert?
We've been having so much fun reading your blog entries and looking at the photographs. We both laughed out loud at Min's strong-man pose among the hedges!
We love you!! Glenn and Jenny and the girls xoxoxox

Hi Cathy
You are getting so much culture - I'm impressed. I love getting the notices that you have updated your blog and it's fun to read about your adventures.
I am just home from a week golfing at Kokanee Springs - it was very good and I learned a lot at the golf school. Had great weather.
Have enjoyed your photos and hope you have success in uploading some more.
