Left Pete & Siobhan's in Suva for a 30 minute flight to Nadi for the 11pm 6 hour flight to Honolulu. 1.5 hour layover there before 9.30am 5 hour connecting flight to Vancouver arriving at 4.30pm, then 7.30pm to Nanaimo (15 min) making for one pretty long Sunday...............

All very easy though. The kids were great, sleeping for a good chunk of all of that. We both got a good 4 or 5 hours sleep as well so arrived fresh. Met at the airport by a typically noticable Todd, 30 min back to the Sanderson nakamal where the kids were welcomed over a smol shell of Kava each before being put to bed, enabling the "adults" to settle in for a couple of quite ones with Nina and Todd.

It is surprisingly nice to be feeling the cold, and damn it is cold. Superb weather, just cold. The nakamal sits up  overlooking the Strait of Georgia with snow capped mountains as the backdrop. Absolutely stunning, and of course the hospitality couldn't be finer.

Hired a car today, so mapping out (or is that oot?) our plans for the next few days, looking to set oot on a few day trips here and there. (The car has airconditioning, but it does things slightly differently to the one we had in Vila - it good is that ??)

Will attach a few more photos before too long, but this short blog can serve to let you all know that we have arrived safely, and are once again enjoying the well missed company of the Sandersons.

PS - dont worry about the "Map Pins" suggesting we have travelled a lot further than we have. Mike is still trying to get the "Pacific Wrap" thing right.

The BC Museum by Quinn...
The best thing I liked about the museum was the really, really big mammoth!  It was scary because there was sometimes thunder and lightening!  When it first happened we got shocked!
Then we went to the coastal exhibit full of seals.  The most biggest seal was the King Seal.  The Seal of all seals.  There was a little aquarium full of water stuff like different types of anemones (different from those waterstuff in Vanuatu).

I like museums because they make me learn more. (by Quinn).

We went for a hike at Neck Point Nanaimo and the boys went exploring.  They had plenty of adventures finding animals and tracking "bad guys".  A real detective team.

Onwards to Mt Washington where Quinn and Lace saw snow for the first time.   It was so beautiful up there - the sun was shining, the snow as great.  The 2 families all went Snow Tubing each afternoon - check out these photos for evidence.  We were so proud of Quinn who didn't want to do it, but jumped in and ended up getting superspins and more!

The Reid's sat down to make a snowman and ended up having a snowball fight - lots of fun even if it wasn't the right kinda snow! :-)   But it was good enough for Quinn to try skiing - we were so proud of him.  He fell down a bit, but had the courage to keep going - good on you mate!

We then boarded a ferry, drove through Vancouver and onto the Lake House, which we like to refer to as "Bonniedoon".  The Reid's LOVED it!  Todd took us all out on his dock one afternoon and we tried fishing and keeping warm.  It was beautiful, funny and fishless, but we all had a lot of fun; as the photos show...

The boys were slightly nervous as the dock had no sides and the lake was hiding her fish, so with more time to look around, they began to be worried about the sideless "boat".

But Todd saved the day with a showing of our new favourite team The Canucks - which we will "root" for forever!
They are now OUR team TOO!

We loved our little taste of Canada and adored our time with the Sandersons!  May we have many more moments...

Cool pics!
Hi guys

Great blog/pics and good to be able to keep track of your progress to date. If you're still in Canada, say g'day to Todd, Nina and the kids from us. We've just got back from Marrakech - amazing place - and I now have my very own Fez! We're off to Copenhagen on Monday for a few days (work for me - bit of site-seeing for Lou).

Stay safe and see you in a few weeks.

Shonk and Lou.
