Our trip to the city of Toledo began bright and early this morning at 8:45 am. Like normal college students on a Saturday morning, we all fell asleep on the bus on our way to the city. However, once we arrived to the city of Toledo, all eyes, and cameras, we're glued to the windows to see the beautiful landscape of the city. The city is located on a mountain creating an incredible view from our bus as we rode up the mountain. Historic buildings, cathedrals and bridges were just a few of the gorgeous monuments located in the city.
As we walked into the city of Toledo, we noticed the city was very decorative with flags and decorations hanging from the buildings and the walls. We were informed that the citizens had just finished celebrating Corpus Christi, which is a holiday that celebrates the tradition and the beliefs of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Because the city of Toledo is known for having one of the best celebrations of Corpus Christi in the world, we were very fortunate to visit Toledo during this time.
The city of Toledo is a very religious city with many beautiful churches, cathedrals and even a synagogue. The cathedral we visited was amazing, I've never seen anything like it. I thought it was unique, and rather strange, that they buried a few popes inside the church. The architecture, doors, and even the ceilings were incredible to see. There was one ceiling with a hole in it that displayed a painting of a replica of heaven. This image was very impressionable as it seemed as if we were looking up to the heavens. There were beautiful paintings on the walls and ceilings and even a timeline of the popes painted on a wall. We were also given the opportunity to see the paintings of world renowned artist, El Greco.
