Today I was reminded of one of the reasons for not living in the Midwest, the weather. It was a very hot and humid day, upper 90's temperature with about high humidity. Within about 1 minute of stepping outside I began to sweat. Yuck.
Spent the morning in Omaha, walking around downtown and then going to have lunch with my dad and grandma at Mama’s Pizza. I have been there before and think they make really good pizza. I always forget that a common topping on pizza here is hamburger. Guess it goes with the downtown slaughterhouses.
Left Omaha heading north, in a vain attempt to escape the weather, but at least it isn’t raining although I would rather have that. Drove up along the Missouri on the Nebraska side through several small towns
Traveled up through Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota to get to Pipestone National Monument. This is a small quarry where the Native Americans would come to get stone to make pipes out of, most famously the peace pipe. Pretty neat little park on the western edge of Minnesota (got to add another state to the visited list.) Then drove back towards Sioux Falls and saw Devils Gulch along the way. Got to Sioux Falls in time to visit Falls Park and see the nightly show they put on about the town history. It’s a laser light show were the light up the falls while going through the town history. Pretty cool.

. Seems that every small town in the Midwest has a Veteran’s memorial. My friends from S. Dakota wanted to know what the heck you were doing passing through Carson. Apparently in isn't on the road from anywhere to anywhere. Were you lost?

Corson was on the way to the Pipestone National Monument in Minn so I passes through it (I was taking the side roads)
