Unemployment... ahhh... what a dream. Sort of. Apart from the no money bit and feeling like a loser. Good times. Not that my time hasn't been fruitful. I've cleaned the kitchen, had a test for TB and seen Lior play at Canberra theatre. If only I had some rich you lady bank rolling my moves I'd be laughing. I arrived back from Melbourne to what kind of felt like home. Peta blew the 'surprise party' that my lovely cousins had tried to organise for me. The fact that neither of them said happy birthday old man when I got back was a little suspicious anyway.
So the gang rocked in in a trickle with a collective birthday present surpassing all others. A beautiful new guitar. Having seen me obvious withdrawal symptoms from make noise which vaguely resembles music my beautiful little cousin Hilary organised for everyone to chip in. Leo noted that because of the price its potential destruction during overseas travel wouldn't matter too much. What I didn't mention to him (hi Leo) was that this guitar was far more expensive and of a far higher quality that any I have owned before. None the less she will travel.
I started the night committing to moderation and ended (at least my memory did) telling everyone that the shots I was about to down were a very, very bad idea. Thankfully a sleep in until 2:30pm (sorry Hilary) the next day did away with any self inflicted pain or suffering.
To recount what has happened in the days since would be like watching a documentary featuring the oxidisation of a car over a century. Interesting when sped up - but imagine it in 24hr round the clock slow motion footage. That said, Jack and I went to Lior last night which was awesome. Jacks' skepticism was thankfully dispelled by Liors incredible musicianship. Nice work Lior.
I spent the majority of today looking at flights on the interweb and after inadvertently clicking a few times too many I have now booked a flight. Sydney to LA on the 21st of May. Not ideal, but free and accidentally booking it stopped me from further paining over the decision. What it has left me with is 7 days from when I get to LA until I need to be in Raleigh, North Carolina. I asked Simon what to do in LA and he said "leave and go somewhere else"... thanks Simon. So I have no idea. If you have, email me. Ideas would be much appreciated.
So the reality of impending travels become more real. Buying a one way ticket with very little idea of what to expect is an interesting prospect. On the flip side I could be married and paying off a mortgage... Ok then...
Well considering my inactivity over the last week I have managed to sprout a ripe load of crap haven't I? It's looking rather likely that from next week I will be working (sort of) for my aunty as some kind of very well paid office monkey. I will update 'le blog' at some point with more useless info on what I've been doing. I think I'll go unfold and fold my clothes again... yeah, that's what I'll do...

Give her a name
Happy birthday again. What is your new flash and expensive birthday present of a girlfriend's name? ...... 'Leave and go somewhere else' - Simon .....ha ha ha ...... 1 week east to west, easy rider style. I wish. When I think LA, I think $$$ kaa-ching. Reflecting my current financial state I guess. :) Lets start a list of things Mark can do in LA:
1. You could try and catch some interesting snapshots of famous people and sell them.
LA-LA Land
Mark! I was giving you the straight dope on that one bro. You won't like LA I can almost guarantee it. In the LA area there are 20 million people and 30 million cars, to qualify to drive in the car pool lane you only need to have one passenger! The pollution is crazy and unless you have a car yourself you can't get around anywhere. I still say you should go to San Francisco - catch a bus up there or something. It is a great city - you can rent a bike and ride around the bay and over the famous bridge - go to Alcatraz - and pretty much walk or catch a tram anywhere you want to go as the city is fairly compact. Do it Mark. DOOOOOO IT!!

Go to SF
Having been to San Fran I second that, but I don't know anything about LA though, except that a U.S. friend here suggested leaving and going to San Diego or Vegas.
San Fran
Do some research on the Haight-Ashbury area - you'll want to be there - the whole place screams 'MARK!!!' or 'FARK!!!' whichever you prefer.
Kombi Running
Picked up your kombi today. Runs well. Costa lota.
