The very next day we headed to Venice and had a look around. The weather was still not the best and was raining a bit... Atleast the thunder and lightning had disapeared. We pretty much walked around all day long. We saw the San Marco which was absolutely amazing. It was bigger than i imagined - which tends to be a common thing for me over here. It was so cool walking around all of the streets and canals here - just like i imagined it would be. The best hting about it is that there is no cars or car horns going everywhere!! :o) The city is so pretty, weith all the old style buildings throughout and walking over all the bridges looking down the canals at all the boats and pretty balcony's with plants over hanging the water. Will never see anything like this anywhere else! There were so many corners, dead ends and alley ways in this place - so its not that hard to get lost here! haha! We kept walking around looking at this place in tihs average raining weather.

Well, Danielle went to draw some money out and the machine didn't spit her card back out far enough, so we couldnt grab it properly and the machine just took it back!!! SH*T!!! We did everything we could with the banks, but the best thing was to cancel the card and attempt for an emergency manual credit card to be sent to us in Interlaken (our next stop). We needed to get phone numbers off the money machine, but it was in italian... However untill this point i didn't realise fully how desensitized eurpoe has become. I was in need of help, and when trying to ask people if they knew italian and english, everyone just shrugged me off as if i was just another preson trying to leur someone into a scheme to give me money. Wasn't untill this lady saw danielle getting a bit upset, and me getting angry at people not stopping that someone volunteered to give some type of help. However, i guess these things happen - gotta make the most of it and keep your head up and smile :o) After all... we're in Venice!!! :o)

We kept walking around an explored more of Venice, as it was so beautiful and we refused to let anything ruin our day...

Next morning on the 19th, we could see the sun beaming down from a blue sky! YAY!! haha however where we're staying has the BEST roller shutters - seriously the room is pitch black and you cant see ANYTHING - very good for if you want sleep! :o) Ok we headed off and saw the sites with a bright blue sky and sun for once! We had to revisit the San Marco in this beautiful day, and it made it look so much better that the sun was out. haha however the entire square was under water!! THere were wooden planks up on stilts for access to the church. Unfortunatly very slow to get anywhere as hundreds of tourists all on these small planks makign it very slow to move.. so, with the very minor few of us there we took our shoes off, rolled our pants up and just walked through the water! It was absolutely disgusting and slimey water which is probably heavily diseased, but hey - it provided really good photo opertunities with no one in the way at all! haha Can you imagine all the pidgeon crap, and god knows what from the pollutance of the venezian canals that we're walking through - haha mmmm!!! In St Marks square there is over a thousand pidgeons i swear! I reckon there is no other place on earth that has this many pidgeons in one spot - it truley is crazy! They're all going mad for food also. If youw alk anywhere near them they just swamp and jump all over your shoulders and head. If you did have food - look out as you'll be ambused by dozens and dozens hahaha! (oh this one poor kid got worked right over! haha). Alright enough of the pidgeons - back to venice! The church just looked so amazing with the detail on the outside. Out the front of it has so many statues and bits coming off of the top and 6 domes. With hundreds of pillars at the bottom. Really a majestic thing to see! Has to be the prettiest church on the outside ever! We weren't really keen on heading in as we were a bit over the hundreds of churches that we've seen, plus we've experience St Paul's in the vatican city and i know nothings ever going to compare to that one :o) We headed off just walking around again trying to get lost - which wasn't hard in this city mind you. Walking through markets, face masks is the thing to sell in this city. Was gonna buy one but no idea what you could do with it? We then went and caught the water taxi (taxi number 1 for those of interest just outside of st marks sq) which took you down the entire main canal - and its ALOT cheaper than a gondola This was pretty cool and gave us some heaps good views of the city from the canal's perspective. I've decided that everyone in this city are very good boat drivers, i seriously dont know how they dont crash into each other - its amazing!! They can reverse parralell park in boats... rightio! :o) From here we got off and yes wondered aorun the city some more. It started getting dark, so we found ourselves a pub to eat our last Italian Pizza before departing the next morning - except we both forgot to order pizza and ended up with something else!!!! haha

**this next bit is funny :o)
We got absolutely lost wondering around Venice after tea... We thought we were heading in the right direction, however ended up on the exact otherside of the island that we were meant to be! haha! Fortunatly we got to see a few beautiful churches and buildings that i never would of gotten to if we didnt get lost. The lights of the other side of the Grand Central canal are so beautiful at night - if ever here make sure you do a wonder at night. Maps are kinda useless in this city when your walking throught the middle of the island through the hundreds of canals. A few hours later we got back to where we wanted to be! Finally :o) As we had to get up the next morning at 5:30am. We usually catch the '6/' bus to our hotel but it was after 9pm, and it stops then. So the guy at our hotel told us we catch the '6' bus and it will do the same route. However... this didnt exactly turn out as simple as it seemed it should. As this bus went over the same bridge it usually did (only bridge off of venice) it then detoured a copmletely different way and went no where near where we were meant to go. After about half an hour - 45 minutes, we were getting further and further away from where our hotel is, we had to hit the stop button and get off as the area we were heading into was getting dodgier and dodgier. Where we now were was not even on the map! Uh Oh!! we just blindley started walking in a direction we thought could be right. After a while there was this dodgy looking pub, which i duct into while danielle waited outside to ask for directions to the bar lady. She didnt speak english so some guy spoke up from a table that over heard me. He came outside and pointed us in the right direction. We thanked him alot and headed off... After about 45 minutes of walking it all still looked unfamiliar so we were getting a bit worried, now we were really REALLY lost. All of a sudden this car rocked up to a halt right next to us and beeped! - the door swung open (and immediatly i thought a mugging...) however to our relief, it was that same guy from the pub... and his wife! They offered us a lift which was unbelievably nice. They were both in their 40's and looked reasonable, so we ended up getting in. We didnt really have a clue what other choice we hda. We got in the back and they took off. We showed them where our hotel was on the map and they started driving. They drove for quite a while and i didnt recognise any area's we were going through - neither did danielle. But after long chats and another 45 minutes of driving later they got us there - right infront of the hotel!!! We were SOOO HAPPY! There's no way we could of gotten back without their kind help.

Well to you two mysterious people out there, i'm so glad to have met you's in that pub. If i had a list of nicest people in this world that i've met, they'd be right on the top. People like this restore your faith and trust in humanity and makes me want to jump at the next chance i get to help another fellow traveler in need of help. Once again - Thankyou :o)

This morning i'm writing this journal in my paper diary in a small cafe around the corner to the Venezian train station as i have an hour and a half to burn. and oh the food is nice here... (just outside the trainstation and to the left - a few awesome cafe's!) Well Now i'm waiting to head to Interlaken... i'm so excited as i've been looking forward to this place since before i even left home! Venice has been great! Its so beautiful and majestic just wondering around the canals, watching the boats scoot passed, while looking at the lovely buildings full of character everywhere you go. Love you Venice - i will return!

Untill next time... Here i come the Swiss Alps!
