Flag of Fiji  , Viti Levu,
Saturday, November 6, 2010

Finished up on Mana with a very relaxing morning then set off back towards Newtown with Martijn and James. Pizza at one of the hostels was fantastic :-) It was a good evening, we got chatting to some other people at Bamboo and played a brilliant game of "I have never" and beer pong.

For the last couple days in Fiji we hired a car and went for a road trip, ended up with 5 of us, me, Martijn, James, Ali and Nathalie, in the poor little car! There's only one road round Viti Levu so we decided to head south, at least there wasn't much chance of getting lost! We got a bit bored part way round and headed inland up a mud track for a while, then carried on along the Queen's Highway round to Pacific Harbour.

When we finally made it, the place seemed absolutely dead but on the 3rd try we found a hostel, Uprising, with at least a few people there. It was James's actual birthday so we got a few drinks in the bar after dinner, even some of the local rum...damn that stuff's strong! After the bar closed we carried on the party in the pool, it was a pretty awesome night!

The following morning we heard about an Absolut music festival at the hostel, ended up staying for it! The festival itself was pretty cool, but there was hardly any people there, shame but it kinda ruined the atmosphere.

Got bored of the festival and set off back towards Newtown, en route we stopped at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park and went for a walk down the dunes and out onto the beach. It was a spectacular coast, huge waves crashing onto a beach covered with deadwood.

We got back and relaxed in Bamboo for the evening, I said my goodbyes and packed up. Had to get up far too early for my flight to New Zealand, my alarm didn't wake me up but thankfully Martijn had got me to ask the security guard to wake me up! Managed to find my way to the airport with the car and gave it back, checked in for my flight and it was time to head on again!
