Today we visited Chimney Rock, a 535-million-year-old 315 foot tall towering monolith in the North Carolina mountains.  The rock is accessed first by a narrow twisting road, and then by elevator (of course you climb up if you really wanted!).

After enjoying the stunning views we walked down the steps and headed off to the Hickory Nut Falls, a 404 foot waterfall.  It was very hot and humid today with not a breath of wind so after all that walking we were ready to head back to the cool of the trailer.
