Today, as it was very hot, we set off early to walk around Indianapolis.  Parking was a nightmare, and we eventually abandoned the BAT at the White River State Park.  We walked to Union Station, then around Monument Circle, then up past the War Memorials.  There are some lovely old buildings in Indianapolis.  At the Scottish Rite Cathedral we joined the Glick Peace Walk, dedicated to individuals who achieved greatness through peaceful pursuits. The Glick Peace Walk leads to the Canal Walk.  The canal was dug in the 1880s in an attempt to facilitate interstate commerce, today it's a lovely waterside promenade.

Next we headed to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Christine was hoping to get a trip round the track in a race car, but we missed it by a couple of days.  Instead, after visiting the museum, we took the special track tour which takes you onto the speedway track, into the media centre, onto the winners podium, and to many other parts of the circuit.  It was a very interesting and informative tour, and we had a great afternoon.
