Yesterday when we left Mojave the sun was shining as we set off across the Sierra Nevada, however it wasn't long before we could barely see a thing in the thick cloud covering the mountains.  I'm sure the views would have been lovely if we could only have seen them!

As a change from trains we visited Castle Air Museum at Atwood, a display of restored aircraft from WWII to the present, including a British Avro Vulcan.

Today we visited Yosemite National Park and the surrounding Sierra and Stanislaus National Forests. We very nearly didn't bother going to Yosemite.  There is an overall length restriction of 45ft on the roads surrounding the area, and as the truck and trailer combined are around 50ft in length, the closest campground we managed to find was still 76 miles from Yosemite Valley.  But we were so glad that we made the effort, the whole drive was spectacular!  The road follows the Merced River, which is currently in full flow; the route was so green and pretty - especially after the desert.

As usual we had to come back a different way, and as the road climbed so the hillsides became covered in snow - and then it started snowing!  We eventually wound our way back down to the valley, and found the place where Cliff thinks we should live - in the town of Snelling.
