First real stop of the day after a stroll around Madison Park and nearby streets, was an amazing lunch at a beautiful restaurant called Eleven Madison Park - 15 courses of absolutely exquisite food. The photos will speak for themselves but the menu will follow at the end.
It was an interesting experience for a couple of other reasons:
1. A mortified waiter tipped a full glass of white wine all over me as I sat at the table. Not a pleasant experience let me tell you but an enormous saving with the free food (mine) and all wine gratis they offered in apology
2. We were offered a guided tour of the kitchen - wow - and a personal cocktail chef who whipped us up a number in his liquid nitrogen bucket. It was amazing to see how a kitchen works in a large, top end restaurant.
Following a long lunch it was home to the hotel for a short nap before we met my favourite niece, Stephanie, and her friend Kirsty for dinner!!! Phew. Stephi is living in Montreal and her friend, Kirsty was over from Melbourne. We enjoyed a delicious Greek meal at a restaurant called Molyvos where we had enjoyed a meal last year. The fig cocktails were a hit, as was the flaming saganaki. It was great to see the girls and have a meal with them in NYC.
Following dinner we parted company with the girls and made our way to the Music Box theatre to see the revival of the musical Pippin. What a fantastic experience - best show of the trip so far. The show was set in a circus with any number of amazing "Cirque du Soleil" type performers. Beautifully sung and acted by the cast. If you're in NYC this show is highly recommended ...

Cookie box - Black & White Cookie: non traditional with cheddar and apple
Oyster with sorrel
White asparagus custard with rhubarb gelee and caviar
Surf clam Maine with pickled Meyer lemon and potato
Clam bake - welks, clams, clam chowder, parker rolls
Terrine foie gras, asparagus ...
Carrot tartare with 9 garnishes - mustard oil, olive oil, asparagus, sunflower seeds, egg yolk, dried kingfish, chives, mustard seed, radish, peas, sea salt - mix all and enjoy
Surf and turf - lobster and veal sweet breads with lobster bisque
Creamed nettles with green garlic & potato
Duck prosciutto, Hudson Valley foie gras, rhubarb and mustard seeds
Roasted duck breast with rhubarb, onion and fennel, jus ans some salad thing
Beer - picnic basket pale wheat ale; washed rind cheese; mustard chutney, white strawberries
Chocolate Grenache with mint sorbet and stuff
Chocolate pretzel; black and white cookie; apple brandy
