On monday afternoon I was off on my long journey south the Malaysia. I hadnt really planned to go to malysia- but.... 1. my thai visa was to expire on the 2nd of Dec, so I had to leave 2. I felt I needed some relaxation time after Bangkok- and after Malaysia I could head over to Ko Mook in southern Thailand.
I got my bus ticket (900B) and waited until my 6oclock departure time. Along the way I met a humorous canadian (arent they all) named Maranda and we sat and chatted, filling the time before I was to leave. The bus arrived and I jumped on, even securing the seat next to me for added comfort. The bus plated Broune Ultimatum and Blood Diamond- 2 movies that I have already seen 2 times each here in Thailand- they place the things non stop- that Borat and Casino Royale. The busride was uneventful until we reached Surat Thani- a miserable transport town on the Gulf- where I waited from 6am until 9 to make the journey to Hat Yai- another charmless transport town. In a Hat Yai some thai school kids tried to teach me how to play "cabal" the latest online RPG, but I was exhausted so I left and just ended up drinking warm Mekong Whiskey outside of a 7-11. You know your beat when your drinking crappy thai whiskey on the curb of 7-11 at 2 oclock in the afternoon. At 3 we left for Penang- this time my minibus had an american expat hari krishnah currently living in India. My minibuses seem to contain some loud characters (see my Pai entry). This guy blabbed on and on about how America sucked- it should be called the JewNited States of America. He also proclaimed that the US was a kill or be killed country- claiming everyone had guns. I had to tell everyone that was false- leading him to challenge me to a debate about my favorite president, which I declined. We arrived in Penang at 9. I got a room, ate... slept.
