Ahhh, the Exuma islands are absolutely beautiful! Even our flight there was fantastic as we got to see all those small islands, cays and turquoise water from up above. Yes, finally the sun was out again in full force ;-))!

We checked into a nice bungalow on the beach and headed out to explore this gem of an island. George Town is the biggest settlement on the island and barely counts a couple of houses. We realized quickly that life has it's own rhythm here; clocks tick slower and people are super laid back, happy, chilled, friendly, chatty and helpful - absolutely fabulous! Everytime we were walking along the road, a car would pull up and offer us a ride. And just overall everybody met us so friendly and made us feel welcome - a great place to chill out and enjoy life.

After a relaxed day on the beach, we spent two days diving. Our most memorable dive here was a tidal blue hole that extends into a whole underwater cave system. We couldn't venture too far inside but it was totally cool as we had to struggle against the outgoing current, which was stronger than expected. We also got to see schools of jack, an eagle ray, an octopus as well as the other usual suspects of a reef ;-).

in the evenings Roger went fishing from the shore and pulled out snappers galore. Just standing on the pier we could see turtles, barracudas and stingrays gliding through the perfectly clear water. And despite having only the most rudimentary kitchen, Roger managed to prepare his catch for our dinner.

Our last day on Exuma we spent at picture-perfect Hoopers Bay - an absolute paradise with a white sandy beach, crystal clear water and no other souls around - we're loving it!
