Our time in the Philippines was coming to an end - sniff ;-(((. But before heading back to Cebu to catch our flight, we made a short stop in Oslob. This place has come to fame due to it's whale sharks. Most fishermen here have quit their former profession and are now in the business of whale shark watching. So, instead of heading out to catch fish, they now take out tourists (for 30 minutes) to snorkel with the gentle giants.

Actually, at first we wanted to give this place a miss, as the whale sharks are being fed. However, we were told that this came about quite naturally, as the whale sharks always used to feed off the leftover of the fishermen or since they used to fish with krill (small shrimp) which is also highly on the sharks food chain. Also, the whale sharks do not depend on this food since only a couple out of their whole population in the area show up. Well, and then it was just too good an opportunity to see these wonderful animals once more up close and personal.

And yes, it was once again an absolutely fantastic experience! It was so amazing to see these gorgeous animals sooo close - really unforgettable moments for us ;-))).

We have been almost eight weeks in the Philippines and when we are looking back we are happy to say that the time here was very pleasant and we appreciated every day above and under the water. The one and only thing which could have been better was the weather; a bit less rain and more sunshine would have made it perfect. And we know it for sure already that we will be back to the Philippines!

Now we are looking forward to seeing our friends back in Singapore before we will move on to....
