Early dismissal today!  The weather has been UNBEARABLE!  It makes everyone a little crabby... the "rainy season" was supposed to start in May, but so far it has been hotter and drier than ever before!  The "feels like" temperature has been up around 105 degrees nearly everyday, with real temps nearing 100 F.

I had to break the news to my kids that I will be leaving them in two short weeks.  I explained it as best I could but I could tell that no one really understood what I meant.  About 5 minutes later, my best English speaker, Anny, started crying and it took me a minute to put 2 and 2 together but she was saying, "You, United States..." She had figured it out and was hysterical!  The other kids are catching on too (she could explain it in Spanish) and so they are extra loveable and affectionate now!  I am going to be so sad!  11 more days of teaching for me!! My kids bring in fruit all the time now!

I went to a birthday party of a very special boy, Jeff.  He is Digna´s 3rd grade son, cousins with Katherine, the little girl that I tutor.  (There is a picture of him in one of the albums.) Anyway, he is an amazing kid!  In utero they discovered that one of his legs was significantly shorter than the other.  Because of this he has had a lot of trouble learning to do normal kid things, like walking and running and has suffered through countless surgeries.  He now has a shoe that is about 4-6 inches high on a platform in order for him to walk around normally.  However, the problem is only going to get worse as he grows and if he does not get it fixed permanently he may lose the ability to walk.  The ideal situation would be for him to find a hospital in the US because the Honduran doctors have done everything in their power.  He does not want to leave his family for the year that they have predicted.  The other amazing thing about Jeff is his charisma!  He is the more adorable and funny kid that you could meet- and he is smart!  His English is amazing!!!  He has only been learning for 2 years and he can already translate, read, and talk talk talk talk talk.  I love Jeff!
