The generosity
of people never ceases to amaze me!   On
Wednesday, I went to the post office in Ben`s Jeep and picked up 11
PACKAGES!

THANK YOU SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE
UNIVERSITY!  The students put on a school supply drive and
sent down 8 boxes of goodies for the kids!
They sent ample amounts of paper, crayons, pencils, pens, flashcards,
books, art supplies, etc Dirty Derek

.  It was
unreal!

THANK YOU
DEBBIE ROSS!  Debbie put together an
awesome package for the kids full of candies, crayons, coloring pads, etc.  It was full of stuff the kids will love!

THANK YOU
NANA, MICHELLE, AND FRIEND!  A nice man
donated over 20 cute bags with puppies on them for Nana to send down to the
school.  I want to save them for a
special occasion because they are so special!
I believe that Michelle covered the shipping- thanks a million, I know
it is expensive!!!

THANK YOU
MOM!  My mom sent another nice box of
treats and supplies for the kids Anny

.  She
also included some of her beautiful hand-made jewelry for me to give as
presents to some of the women that have been especially generous with me.  She even sent down a couple wrapped dolls
(Barbie and Dora) for the girls in my Honduran family.  A few treats for me were included too!  My favorite part was the notes from home that
family members wrote me on Easter!  Most
of them were quite humorous and others were very complimentary!  THANKS FAMILY!

Once again,
THANK YOU to everyone that has sent donations in the form of money, gifts,
school supplies, and prayers!  I speak for
the whole school when I say that we really appreciate it!

With that
being said, it took me a whole evening and a morning just to open up all 11
boxes and sort through the contents New books!
New books!
!  I
was so excited that I had trouble sleeping and had to drink a little coffee the
next day.  Haha.  This weekend I am going to have all of the
volunteers "go shopping" in my new "pulperia".
I have empty boxes for them to use as shopping carts.  We will begin using the supplies ASAP but
there will be a lot left over to jump start next year, which is great!  It is so much fun giving things away... that
probably sounds so cheesy, but it is so true.
I love distributing all of the things that have arrived here in
Cofradia.  What a blessing you all have
been!

Today I
brought in a small assortment of the new goodies to my class, I just could not
resist Noel, Jostin
Noel, Jostin
.  The kids were ecstatic about the
new flashcards and books!  I hate to brag
but they are SO SMART!  They are picking
up on things so quickly and we are to a point where they are really starting to
put things together.  Their English has
improved so much and I am their first English teacher so everything they say, I
know that I taught them.  It is very rewarding!  They are starting to form sentences and their
comprehension is fantastic.  One of the
main things that I have been trying to stress is for them to listen for the
differences in questions.  For instance,
if I have a watermelon I may first ask, "What IS this?" and then "What COLOR is
this?" and then "What SHAPE is this?" and then "Is it HEALTHY or UNHEALTHY?"
and they can answer four questions about a single object Marilin and Dayanara

.  That is how I know they comprehend my
questions.  It is really amazing.

On a less
exciting note, I have been a little sick this week but nothing that bad.  I had a fever a couple days and it took me
forever to find a decent thermometer and when I did Nathan accidentally
exploded it INTO the chicken I was cooking!
Mercury chicken anyone?  So... we
think it was up to 102.2 but who knows.  Chad has been
throwing up and nauseous all week and I know 4 kids with the chicken pox (I was first told they had measles, but the translation was incorrect.)  My
complaints are nothing!

THANKS
AGAIN!  And please, never doubt the generosity of
people...

One last note, the photographers that were here last week have posted some of their best pictures on their websites.  Check out www.adolfiphoto.com and www.sciarretta-photo.com to see pictures of our amazing kiddos.  I believe that they are selling prints to raise money for the school so if you see one that you would like to have, contact the photographer and see if you can contribute to the school in that manner.
