La Ceiba has the reputation of being the biggest party city in the country. So much so that itīs nickname is "Hondurasī girlfriend". We did not have that experience though. I assume a lot of it has to do with it being the off-season for tourism. We saw about 10 other gringos the whole time we were there. We went out to a nice dinner and then went out dancing. Surprisingly they played mostly country music. I have never seen prostitutes before (or if I have I was unaware) visiting La Ceiba. They were everywhere! This country has laws but I have yet to find one that is enforced in any way. On Saturday morning we went out for breakfast. I have a serious addiction to baleadas. I am to the point where I choose them over American food when I have both as an option. Since I cannot sleep past about 5:45 am I ended up watching about 2 hours worth of Good Morning America in the hotel room. It was kind of fun to reconnect with what is happening in America, such as Ground Hog Day... 6 more weeks of winter, but not for me! There are certain things that I miss about America but I am not quite sure of what they are. I never realized how much of a part of my identity being an American really is.
