So wow. WhAt a city. I have always said Munich has been my favorite German city. It would take a lot to dethrone that statement. I feel like Berlin has thAt number 1 spot now. The city of Berlin has such an incredible story and history. Not only do you have ww2 history bursting from the city, you have the cold war history and the communist period even more recent than that. It's so much to take in and to see sights and locations that have influenced world history for the past 75 years all the way up to 1990 when the Berlin wall came down was awesome. Add in the fact the German culture and people are my favorite in Europe and a nightlife that doesn't in and is simply the best in the world AND then the beer festival this weekend. I would say it was a we'll done 6 days in Berlin!

My time in Berlin was a tale of two trips, the first part could be the sightseeing part. Saw all kinds of incredible ww2 and cold war museums. Saw the brandenburg gate, the bunker hitler committed suicide, checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin wall, the Jewish memorial, the victory statue, among a few other things. I spent a ton of time checking out the memorial an museum for the murdered Jews wich was powerful and touching. The old ss and gastappo headquarters had been turned into a museum so that was cool to learn the full on history of the rise of the nazis and ss. Pretty crazy how the nazi party convinced the whole country to be ok with them stripping their rights away and controlling them w fear. Amazing. I did a walking tour of the city and from there made my own plan of what I wanted to see and knocked out most of these sights in a couple of days.

The second part of the stop in Berlin was the nightlife/ beer festival. I met this really cool s African guy at the hostal and we ended up hanging out all weekend. Cool guy, had a lot in common and had a blast. He and I headed to the beer festival on Friday and hung out for about 4 hours. This beer festival broke the world record for the largest beer garten in the world at 2.2 km long. Food, music, arts n crafts, booths, and over 2000 kinds of beer. It was amazing. I had perma grin on my face. So what you did was buy a .2 L mug for 3 euro and walk to all the different beer vendors and pay 1.5 e to have them full the glass up w their beer. AWESOME! So lots of beer was to be had over the weekend to say the least. After we left on Friday , we met up w micheal, a guy I met in Frankfurt when I was there woo lives on Berlin and we all headed out to this club on fri night. The nightlife in Berlin is incredible. World class clubs, incredible music, and nobody sleeps. Hard to explain because it is so much different and bigger than anything I have ever experienced in the states. So this club was hidden. Never would know it was there if you didn't know where to look. But once you walk into it, freakin cool. Music was solid, crowd and people were having a good time and the club had so much personality as far as how it was set up w lights, sound, chill out areas, etc, iit takes the cake as the coolest club I have been to. We partied till 7 am. The thing about Berlin nightlife, you are the only one there if you show up at 2 am. They start late and go all day the next day!

Saturday Rodney and I slept a bit and went to he beer festival for a good 5 hours and again went out w micheal on sat night. Went to bed at 7 am again. Oh man what a tiring pace

Sunday Rodney and I hit the festival again on its last day and were there for a few hours but also went to this Jamaican club/ bar/ hangout place. Had sand volleyball/ ping pong/ b ball/ and a bunch of really cool spots to just chill by the river and talk it up which Rodney and I did for a few hours. After that we just chilled at the hostel for a bit and went to bed early, 1am

Well that was Berlin. Did it proper. Met some amazing , fun people again and had an amazon Rome at the beer fest. That was the goal! I will def come back to Berlin! What a place!

Prague in the morning! I'm excited for some eastern Europe culture!

Guten tag, Clark! Sounds like so much fun in Deutschland. I got back from my Alaska adventure last night. Saw black bears, humpback whales, caribou, moose and seals. Did some mountain biking down a Yukon pass, ocean kayaking and flew in a float plane to a remote bear viewing platform. It was awesome!
