What paradise! We spent our last three nights together on this island off the coast of Salvador. We took the first catamaran out of the dock near Mercado Modelo, and arrived around 11am. I still canīt believe that I didnīt get sick--definitely took every ounce of concentration for me not to vomit! Thank god we splurged and got a flight out of there to the Salvador airport on March 6th (which was pricey but SOOO worth the saved hassle, given the fact that we both had flights out of that airport in the early afternoon and would have had to leave the afternoon before and taken a billion different modes of transport to catch our flights...not ideal for our last days together!). We stayed in a decent (but a little pricey) pousada on the third beach. I definitely recommend staying here if you only have a few days, as it is close to everything but really quiet at night. If we had had more time, then we would have stayed on the fourth beach, which is very remote (6 km long), tranquil and gorgeous. The second beach is where all the action is (ie nightly dance parties with live music and more drink stands with elaborate fruit displays than you can imagine), and where we usually played in the warm, crystal clear waters, people watched (tons of beautiful, fit people), and ate lunch followed by our daily grilled cheese on a stick and large bowl of acai with granola, banana, and honey. So tasty!
