I finally connected with their public library and they said that we were welcome to stop by, but there wouldn't be any kids around that day because school was still in session. We were just happy to hear a yes. :)
So we drove into Douglas, found a parking spot behind a diner, and did a full walk-around the downtown area. We ended up meeting some really delightful people who were excited that the circus was coming, so we started feeling a lot better about doing our job
Every single business we went into took flyers, a few hung the flyers up immediately, and everyone wanted to know the details so they wouldn't miss it. One gentleman in a pizza place assured us that word would spread like wildfire and everyone in the surrounding areas will be there. I hope you're right, sir!
Our visit to the library was really nice...it's a small, older building that I wanted to get lost in immediately. Three librarians were working, but no patrons were in sight. So we took photos, left flyers and John had to tear me away from all of the books so we could keep working...haha.
One phone call to a local-ish newspaper held another small victory: they asked us to send a press release to them and they promised they would publish it for us. We contacted the circus office to send it to them, so at least the surrounding areas will read about the circus in their paper too.
Once finished, we caught up on some phone calls and then took off for North Andover!
