Where I stayed
We stopped by a senior center that had pretty much let out for the day, but there were a few women still there...we talked to them about the circus and since Eileen had a few circus tickets to give away for free, we did a short contest with the women and one lady was the lucky winner! She said she was planning on going anyway, so she was thrilled to have won a ticket.
After that, we visited a number of schools. The first one, we simply went room to room...in 45 minutes, J.P. did a shortened version of his routine in five different classrooms! I was exhausted just watching him...but he did great, the kids LOVED it, and we definitely got the kids riled up and excited for the circus.
Today was a first for us....Eileen took us to a school for the deaf and blind. There was a small group of kids waiting for us in the auditorium. John adjusted his program for his audience and we think it went really well (Eileen said it was fantastic, so we're going with her opinion on that one!). We passed around John's juggling balls for everyone to touch and invited the blind students up to play musical instruments while we sang a song together.
We visited a nursing home after that...as soon as we got in there, we heard a tiny voice yell out "Clown!" from one of the rooms and a second later, this 4 year old kid with a huge smile on his face came running at John. Hahaha...this kid wouldn't leave John's side. He just smiled and laughed at everything J.P. did, so we gave him flyers, stickers, and John made him a balloon animal, which completely made his day. His mom said he loves the circus and she's definitely taking him
Before we knew it, it was a little after 4pm, so Eileen dropped us off at the RV and we said our goodbyes. We were both pretty exhausted, so we found an RV park nearby and reserved a pull-through site to camp at. I'm so glad we did because this park ended up being one of the most beautiful ones we've stayed at yet...right on the banks of a branch of the Potomac, at the base of a small mountain, and lots of flowering trees surrounding us. A perfect way to start the weekend....
