Eben, the museum’s director, took us to a nursing home across the street from the museum first. Once again, we were greeted by really friendly, smiling residents who obviously love living there and a staff who obviously loves working there
After the nursing home, Eben took us to a school across town primarily for special needs kids. They were already assembled in the gymnasium, so as soon as we got there, John jumped right into his program. The kids were thoroughly entertained and while he kept an eye out to make sure the program didn’t overstimulate, he didn’t even need to worry. Before we realized it, it was time to head back to the RV…we wished Eben well and he told us that if we return to Waynesburg next year with the circus, we are more than welcome to dinner at his house. I love the connections we’re making with some of the sponsors…within a 4-8 hour period, we bond over our love of the circus and anything else we discover in common and by the end of the work day, it’s a little hard to say goodbye. Thankfully, we’ll always have technology!
