I manage to finally book my greyhound tickets for later trips to Noosa, Surfers Paradise and hostels at Noosa and Maroochy (Maroochy is near Noosa and I plan to do a famous wreck dive there). I check out of Bunk and head to Fortitude Valley station and get a direct train to cleveland. Im so tired only 5 hours sleep and want to sleep on my train but my warning guard is still in London mode so im very wary about dropping off with all my bags around me. It takes about an hour to reach Cleveland and I hop off with my gigantic backpack (I do look funny carrying it), and head to the bus transfer. When I arrive I find out the next ferry and transfer is not for an hour and a half so I sit (dying for the loo too) and wait, cant be bothered to carry giant bag back to station for the toilets. I get accosted by a local at the bus dept, who talks really softly and continues talking even when i bus stops or a lorry passes, so most of the time i have no clue what he talking about but nod and smile which works for 90% of the conversation. He's a bit of a skank but really nice, he turns out to be dead intelligent and knows absolutely everything about current affairs and politics - his brain didnt match his body. So that passes the time quickly and the transfer arrives. David (the bum) teaches me an aborginal handshake and then chats to the driver for the bus journey.

We get to Cleveland ferry terminal and I hop on my ferry, flashing the student card gets me a four dollar discount (cha ching!!). It takes 20 minutes to get to stradbroke and from there you take another bus which dropped me at Manta Lodge. When I finally check in, I head up to my allotted room and open it to find a complete bomb disaster, there is a naked girl on the top bunk, who opens her eyes and sees me but makes no attempt to bother covering up and three other beds that look well and truely used. Clothes everywhere, undies on the floor, no room for bags. I stand there like a lemon - me, the naked girl and a mess...slowly back up and flee back to reception. I get another room and walk into a similar mess, stuff all over the floor but there are two free beds which are made. There is a girl in the room who lets me know shes sharing with her boyfriend, then she goes back to watching a movie so we dont speak anymore. I decide to shower and head straight out.

I go to the beach which is a 30 second walk and am greeted with miles of clear sand and sea, about 3 people in site and a blazing hot day. Its blustery so I cant maneouver my towel down properly and everytime i get to sit on it it flaps sand up in my face. I slap on some suncream and promptly get showered by sand which immediately sticks to every part of me. There is sand on my water bottle so im drinking sandy water. Then a giant horse fly starts attacking me, it really is aggressive and wont leave me alone, and literally chases me down the beach when i go for a walk. At this point I seriously consider getting back on the bus and heading back to brisbane, but the draw and promise of beautiful walks, mantas and turtles keeps me going.

I finally go back and shower again and head out to find food, I find the place I want to eat at only to find its shut today. I decide to get supermarket food and by some bread and cheese and salad. I walk up to near the top of Point Lookout (the most northern tip of straddie) and find a beautiful point where I can sit and look over the ocean and watch the surfers, at this point I find myself feeling better.Food and a good view can help.

I head back and get back to my room and find the boyfriend in the room, hes german and actually really lovely so we chat for a bit and thats also nice knowing that some, just some travellers can be friendly. I havent had a problem with the locals, just the "already on the road" variety travellers seem to be a bit stuck up - but I suppose im not 19 anymore and maybe i have lost touch a bit ;-) I guess i can push the skinny jeans for a few more years though.

Another girls arrives in our room and she is lovely and we chat for ages so my faith in mankind is temporarily restored, we laugh about how many people just spend their days in their hostel rooms. We all finally get to sleep and i have 12 hours of beautiful sleep, its quiet and nobody snores.
