I've attached some pictures of our adventures from Sunday and Monday. Sunday, Daniele and I went on a boat tour of the Great Barrier Reef. I have never felt so sea sick. I didn't vomit, but I felt awful. Daniele said she couldn't look at me, because I was so green, and it would make her feel sick
. But after the boat stopped moved (2 hours later) I felt fine. We went snorkelling for a bit, and then we went diving. The breathing part freaked me out at first. But Daniele was there, and the guide held my hand the whole time, so I felt better. We saw some incredible things, including sharks... but they were reef sharks, perfectly harmless. They're beautiful, very sleek and graceful. The biggest we saw was probably about 5 feet long, and there were a bunch of little ones too. We saw lots of other neat fish, one of which was egging me on, I'm convinced. I'm not going to take a dive course here, because it's very expensive and I'm low on funds. But if I get a job in Perth, I should be able to take a course there or in Thailand.
The next day, we all went on a tour of the rainforest with Uncle Brian. It was a blast. We drove around on a bus, singing and eating chocolate. We stopped at some beautiful spots. Malli Malli Falls was my favourite spot. Apparently in the 80s, the shampoo company Timotei shot a commercial there where the model whips her hair out of the water. So our guide (Cousin Ben, since Uncle Brian was looking after his kids) told us how to do it properly. It's kind of embarassing how many pictures Ashley and I have combined.
Okay, so there's been a change of plans. I'm now going to Perth. I'm leaving Sunday, flying with Quantas, not the seat of my pants. Ashley, my new Saskatchewanian travelling companion has convinced me to go, even though she's abandoning me for a few days first to go to Darwin. I didn't really do any research on Perth before coming here, since I didn't think I'd make it out there, but now I'm looking into it, I'm pretty excited. It's a big town (1.3 million) and there are lots of cool things to do in and around the city. Including take surfing lessons, which I've still managed not to do.
