Sunday 28th October - Thursday 1st November

To get to the island of Boipeba we travelled with a day trip of tourists, but jumped ship at the island to stay for 2 nights, wading to shore with our backpacks!  En route to the island our boat stopped at a natural swimming pool of clear turquoise water and swam with colourful fish!

On arrival at the island we were delighted to see remote white beaches fringed with palm trees -  a tropical paradise!  Our possada was right on the beach and the path to our room led through a lush jungle garden filled with flowers and palm trees, and even a resident parrot.  Our room was a huge chalet, with lounge area, bedroom, veranda, fridge etc. A fantasic tropical breakfast served on the beach was also inlcuded - all for 25 quid a night!

We spent an amzing couple of days, wandering along the beaches, stopping to sit under a palm tree every now and then.  After a long walk one morning we stopped at the only ´restuarant´on a white sand beach and had a lunch of fresh lobster grilled on a open fire!  Not sure this is really backpacking anymore, but it did only cost a tenner! Delicious!

The island was peaceful, and only a handful of restuarants and shops, and very few tourists.  Evenings were spent watching the sunset and eating fresh seafood!

After a couple of days, we caught the boat back to Morro de Sao Paula for a couple of nights before heading back to Salvador.

This time in Morro de Sao Paula we found a fantasitc possada offering thatched chalets to rent in a beautful tropical gardem, again with breakfast overlooking the beach.  Had another great couple of days, before taking the catarmaran back to Salvador.  Very relucatant to leave and reports that the sea was even rougher on way back did not help!  Turned out that the rumours were true, and a very nauseating 2 hours later, we arrived back to the mainland.

Just a brief stopover in Salvador before we spend 5 nights further up the coast in Praia do Forte.....

P.s hope you are all green!  :o)
