Saturday 14th July - Sunday 15th July

Caught bus from Puno to Copacabana, and crossed the Peru/Bolivia border just before arriving in Copacabana.  Border crossing far simpler than imagined and simply stamped out of Peru, walked o foot across the border and stamped into Bolvia for 30 days.

Bus journey interesting due to a river crossing in which we all left the bus to cross the river in a small precarious boat.  The bus followed on a raft which looked even more precarious - see pictures!  Guess this is what happens without a bridge!

Copacabana smaller than Puno and more of a holiday (!) resort.  We stayed in a lovely hotel overlooking the town and lake, and relaxed in hammocks for a couple of days before heading to the chaos of Laz Paz.  Watched the final of the Copa America Cup with locals and ate lots of freah fish from the lake!  We did do one small hike up to the highest point in copacabana - a hill overlooking the town with numerous religious momuments.

The bizzare local custom is to buy plastic models of what you wish for (e.g. cars, money, graduation scrolls) and have it blessed by a preist, and so hundreds of stalls in town all selling these plastic models.

The cars seen driving around town appeared to be decorated for a wedding but it turns out they are decorated by their owners and blessed by a preist to make them last longer, and protect them from accidents!

Off to Laz Paz tomorrow - only 5 hours by bus so a nice short journey!
