Bilbao is interesting.  I cant decide if I like it or not.  Its rather dirty but lacks the throngs of tourists I have seen everywhere else in Spain.  Can definitely see a difference in the culture here though, the way the people look and speak is so different from the cataluna region.  Jutta and I are staying in a small little pension about a 20 min. walk from the old city.  After getting settled we walked around and got a feel or the place and found a nice little tapas bar to try the famous pintxos (PIN-chos, tapas) and sidra (SEE-dra) which is very yummy, tastes like bitter apple juice with a hell of a kick.  Next day we went to the Guggenheim museum, the main attraction of the city.  It was very interesting, lots of modern art and installations and the building itself is massive and modern.  We ended up staying for three nights, just enough time to see Bilbao and have a daytrip to San Sebastian.
